DAILY JOURNAL: OUR OPINION: Teachers, schools adjust based on new test data

dj_faviconTupelo’s thousands of public school students returned to classes Tuesday after the Christmas holiday break, but their teachers and other academic specialists were out of the starting gate on Monday, prepping for revised goals and assessing what changes need to be made for the second semester.

The daylong teachers’ session showed a side of the Tupelo district not often on the radar – the constant upgrading, refocusing and adapting as challenges and opportunities present themselves.

Emma Crawford Kent’s reporting for the Daily Journal also highlighted the important role of interventionists who use intense, extended and innovative methods to help children master Enlish language learning and proficiency.
